Once you find the file called functions.php, open the file, scroll to the bottom of the file and paste the entire string that was provided above.
Once you have pasted the string, save the file. Go back to your site, hit refresh, and the search box should work. I did not have to do anything else or change anything on the backend of Woocommerce.
