How to install Google Analytics in WordPress

Step 1: Sign up for Google Analytics

Firstly, you need to have a Google Analytics account. If you haven’t got one, visit Google Analytics  to sign up.

If you already have a Gmail account, you can use that email to sign-in. If not, you can create a new one with just a few clicks.

After signing in with gmail account, now you can start to login and use your brand new Google Analytics account.

For new account, you will need to go through some next settings steps. You should choose tracking for website if you are creating this account and use for your website.

Now you can input all information needed for your website to start tracking and click on Get Tracking ID button to get tracking code.

After finishing setting up information for your Google Analytics account and click Get Tracking ID, now you can see the tracking code of your account. This code will be used to install and connect Google Analytics with your website. Copy the code and move to next step.

Using Plugins

There are tons of plugins available to add Google Analytics to your site. We recommend to use a simple and light-weight plugin, such as Insert Headers and Footers, Insert Code in Header and Footer, etc. After installing the plugin, you can paste the Google Analytics code in the plugin’s setting page.

Paste into header.php

If you are developer or have a developer who can help, you can paste the Google Analytics code in your theme’s header.php, before the <body> tag.

You can now click on the Reporting tab to see your site’s analytics overview. It takes Google up to 24 hours to track and display the stat of your website.
