This seems to be working fine, thanks for the fix! Just so I know for future reference what are the differences in execution between main query and build query?
Its 2 sidebars, the one on category page has price filter as well as characteristics filters, the blog sidebar has nothing in common with it and is a different one entirely.The shop sidebar – the one on category page- is nt functioning properly atm, if you press any of the choices instead of filtering down the 3 results like it did before, now it updates and shows as using the filter on the top of the sidebar but doesnt actually filter the results of the category accordingly!
Thanks I ll make the edit tomorrow and lyk. Any idea about the other problem with sidebar not working properly? Since it’s not only aesthetic but a matter of functionality so it’s quite important to be fixed.

Both pages have the same issue, the whole issue begins with using a custom page as template(that your implementation uses) for the category not specifically related to using your shortcode, also if that helps regardless if page template used is full width or not the end result category page comes out full width( should be the reason sidebar gets pushed down).
By the way incase you havent worked around this yet I found a solution ( one with less customization options though but those shouldnt be needed too much when displaying categories only ), visual composer gives access to a component called Product Categories you can use to achieve desired result.
Ι have the same issue, I would like to show subcategories instead of products of subcategories when inside my main category(that has only sub categories with products and no direct product children).
