How to prevent Subcategory on Home Page

Hi:

I am using DMCS Theme.
And my homepage is something like your Demo; have big size images on the home page.
I want to add sub-category but do not want it to show on the home page as a big image placeholder.

Right now when I create sub-category, it shows on home page. Please see my 2 attached images,

By the way, I am not a programmer, so please let me know how I can prevent the sub-category
