Header Problems

Hi,

I am struggling with the header:

1) I am trying to make the header transparent to see the menu items directly on the intro image and I can’t get rid of the white background of the header. Yes, I have gone to the Page and ticked “Transparent Main Menu – On”. Also, the stripe is padded on both sides and unreasonably high? I am planning to have a sticky menu afterwards and it seems to be working ok.(screenshot attached)

2) When I try to make the header with the black background it is too high and covers the top of the main image on the page. How can I decrease the height of the header? I am adding the image using Visual Composer.

3) When I add logo to the header, the header height decreases. Alternatively if I remove logo from the header the height of the header increases. How can I keep it stable. Why does it change?

4) How can I move the header up? As you can see there is a space between the white and top of the screen
